OVERVIEW
In May, a powerful earthquake devastated Sichuan province, leaving nearly 70,000 people dead, 400,000 people injured and a further 5 million people homeless.
A small group of dedicated individuals from the Queensland business community are working together to raise $100,000 and provide a practical response to support those devastated by this earthquake. The appeal is entitled, ‘Queensland Business - China Earthquake Appeal’
The group, lead by Ms Lindy Chen, Managing Director of ChinaDirect Sourcing, is approaching a number of Queensland companies, business associations and corporate groups to offer speaking presentations to their clients on doing business with China, with all proceeds raised donated to Red Cross.
“This earthquake has been just devastating. Imagine almost one quarter of the Australian population having their houses destroyed and more than 50,000 people killed in one event on a single day,” said Ms Chen. “People who have now lost their homes can genuinely benefit from temporary shelter and assistance we can provide.
